Reigning World Superbike champion Toprak Razgatlıosdafsğlu has apparently put pistachio to parchment and signed for Honda MotoGP for the 2026 season.
The move appears to be in response to the current state of World Superbikes where earlier in the Month the Turkish BMW rider bemoaned Ducati’s unfair dominance in the series so has switched to MotoGP where Ducati dominate even more.
“I’m giggling with excitement about it” quoted our mystery WSBK insider who we’ll refer to as ‘James T’. “As a respected commentator and pianist it’s my job to be totally neutral but I personally absolutely love Toprak and think he’s the bestestest rider ever. It’s inspired me to write another mind-bogglingly boring mid-tempo pointless piano song that I’ll pretend is rock to make me feel cool. It will be called ‘the soaring kebab’”
However not everyone is so sure that the Turk, who began his riding career on a single cylinder camel, will make the grade in the premier class. Two years ago Razgatlıasdfsdfgoğlu, who was then a Yamaha World Superbike rider, tested the company’s MotoGP bike and was found to be not very good. This probably won’t bother Honda too much given the lawnmower manufacturer currently have the exceptionally low bar of Luca Marini and Somkiat Chantra on their books but it does question whether Toprak can step up.
“I’m not too worried” concluded James T. “That said I’ll be an emotional mess should it happen. Probably even worse than that time I almost started crying on the BBC because people had said mean things about Rossi online.”
Razgatlıosdfgdsfgsğlu, who as a side hustle sells ‘very, very good quality’ knocked off handbags in the local bazaar, has not officially confirmed the move but insiders say the deal has been completed ‘for a very, very good price my friend’.
